Police arrest high school teacher from Spanaway, WA for child pornography and voyeurism

SPANAWAY, Washington. – Christian Williams was booked into the Pierce County Jail on charges of voyeurism and possession of child pornography.

The 48-year-old was arrested at Spanaway Lake High School, where he worked as an AP computer science teacher. The school was placed on lockdown on September 11 as police were able to make the arrest without incident.

The Bethel School District issued the following statement to families on Wednesday:

“This afternoon, a Bethel School District teacher was arrested at school. Pierce County officials entered the Spanaway Lake High School campus, imposed a modified lockdown, and made the arrest without incident.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department has told us there is no information at this time that the arrest was school related. We have no further information regarding this incident.

On August 28, Pierce County officials said they received a report of a voyeurism incident in the Bonney Lake area.

According to police, a teenager found a USB charger with a camera in the bathroom she shares with her younger sister.

“They had no idea where it came from,” said Pierce County Sheriff's Sergeant Darren Moss. “It's basically a little USB charger with a tiny camera inside. They reported to officers that they found it in their bathroom.”

The criminal investigators then determined that there was reasonable suspicion for the search and eventual arrest of the 48-year-old relative.

Officials say there is currently no evidence that Williams committed any crimes at the high school.

“We have only been able to search this device so far,” said Sergeant Moss. “If we locate other devices or find computers or cell phones that contain images of minors, the investigation will become more extensive.”
