‘Law and order does not exist in BJP-ruled states’: Rahul Gandhi hits back after attack on army officers in Indore

Senior Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday condemned the attack on two Indian Army officers and the alleged sexual assault on their girlfriend in Madhya Pradesh's Indore. Condemning the attack, he criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party, saying that law and order was virtually non-existent in the BJP-ruled states.

In the incident, the two army officers were beaten and one of their two friends was raped while they were on a picnic in Indore district. On Wednesday evening, seven unidentified men attacked two girls and took them hostage in a car.

On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi stated: “The violence against two army soldiers and the rape of their companion in Madhya Pradesh is enough to shame the entire society.”

The post goes on to say, “Law and order are almost non-existent in the BJP-ruled states – and the BJP government's negative attitude towards the increasing crimes against women by the day is extremely worrying.”
