Ministry of Public Security investigates fatal accident

Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday evening just before 5 p.m. A car crash involving a pickup truck occurred in the 4000 block of Fish Hatchery Road at the intersection with Kimmery Road, according to Lance Corporal Brittany Glover.

The department says the Ford F-150 was traveling northbound along Fish Hatchery Road when the driver veered off the left side of the road and struck a highway sign and then a tree, according to authorities. SCHP officials say the unidentified driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
