Meet Miss Sinaloa María Fernanda Beltrán, winner of Miss Universe Mexico

María Fernanda Beltrán Figueroa will represent Mexico in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, which will be held at the CDMX Arena in Mexico City on November 16. The 2024 Miss Universe pageant is expected to be the biggest show in the franchise's history after Thai businesswoman Anne Jakrajutatip and Mexican businessman Raúl Rocha became co-owners of the Miss Universe Organization.

The 24-year-old Culiacan native has extensive experience with beauty pageants and a degree in marketing and communications. She is also known for her social work and launched a campaign against cyberbullying three years ago. Her personal experience with online harassment after winning a beauty pageant has further fueled her commitment to the cause.

“I was brutally attacked on social networks and that's where I learned what it means to be a victim and a perpetrator. You can't understand that in a book, but through advice from women who have experienced it,” she said in an interview.

I want to say to all women who have been victims of cyberbullying that I understand your problems. Remember, in me you have a friend and ally.

Maria Fernanda is multilingual and speaks fluent Spanish, English and French. Her language skills will serve her well as she bids for the universal crown in just over two months. Her intense preparations are already underway and she is capitalizing on her previous success as Miss Grand Mexico 2023 to represent Mexico with flying colors.

“I feel happy, excited, satisfied and eager to reach the universal crown,” were the first impressions of the Sinaloa native GET THIS! She also assured that the work she will do until the day of the contest will not only be reflected on the stage, but also in her effort to penetrate Mexican society and the world as the host of the beauty pageant.

“I want to hold this title high so that people see what it means to be Miss Universe Mexico and understand what is strived for so that each year more is achieved,” said Beltrán. She believes her greatest strengths on the road to the universal reign are resilience and perseverance, which she learned thanks to her career as a model.

Miss Universe 2024

The upcoming Miss Universe 2024 beauty pageant is set to take place in Mexico. Mexico has already been chosen as the host country for the pageant four times in the past, namely in 2007, 1993, 1989 and 1978. “I'm looking forward to seeing what Mexico has to offer. El Salvador will be a tough one!” said the CEO of the Miss Universe Organization Amy Emmerich in an exclusive Hello!“We are considering holding the preliminary round in a 20,000 square meter facility in Cancun – that has not yet been approved, but the possibility is very exciting.”

New rules will apply for the 2024 beauty pageant, including the removal of age restrictions for contestants. All women over 18 can participate, regardless of their age.
