KC man behind bars after reported attack in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Kansas (KCTV) – A Kansas City man is behind bars in Lawrence after a reported stabbing turned out to be an attack of a different nature.

Lawrence, Kansas, police said that on Wednesday, September 11, shortly before 5 p.m., emergency personnel were called to the area of ​​W. 26th and Ridge Ct. for reports of a stabbing.

When emergency responders arrived, they say they found a person involved in the incident leaving the area. A short chase ensued, ending at 23rd St. Dillons.

Investigators determined the driver may have been the victim of an alleged assault. He sustained injuries in the incident that were not life-threatening, but no stabbing was found.

Police say a suspect has been arrested. Douglas Co. records show Aharlock W. Fixico, 45, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested in connection with the incident. He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude, driving while license suspended and driving without insurance.

As of 6:30 p.m., Fixico is still behind bars without bail. No further information has been released.
