KFC manager from Indiana allegedly stole thousands from store and grew marijuana at home

JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. (WAVE) – The manager of a KFC restaurant in Seymour, Indiana, was arrested Tuesday after police say she robbed the restaurant for several months while simultaneously operating a marijuana grow operation from her home.

According to Seymour police, Aimee J. Brooks, 40, of Seymour is charged with grand theft, neglect of a dependent, public disturbance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, Brooks was reported last week by other managers at KFC who claimed she took money from the store. Brooks allegedly said she put money in the safe, but the numbers did not match. Officials at KFC said they missed out on more than $7,000 over a six-month period.

With the information gathered, police went to Brooks' home on Tuesday to question her. Officers said they noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the house and received permission to search.

They reportedly found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and equipment for growing marijuana inside.

While Brooks was being questioned, police admitted that she had taken money from the KFC restaurant where she worked as a manager. Brooks was arrested on several felony charges and taken to the Jackson County Jail.

Brooks was specifically charged with neglect of a dependent person/child, but the child involved was not mentioned in the police department's press release.

Seymour Police believe charges may be filed against additional suspects in the near future.
