51-year-old woman killed in car crash in east Birmingham

A Shelby County woman died in a traffic accident east of Birmingham last week.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Kathy Ruth Williams. She was 51 years old and lived in Alabaster.

The accident occurred at 2:44 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Edwards Lake Road. No other vehicles were involved.

Williams was taken to UAB Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m. Sunday.

Birmingham police are investigating.
