Tuscaloosa woman is hit and killed by semi-trailer after getting out of car following accident

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (WBRC) – A 30-year-old Tuscaloosa woman has died after she was struck and killed by a semi-truck as she was getting out of her car following a crash, according to police.

The woman's name has not yet been released. Police say she was involved in a car crash when she exited the I-20/59 exit ramp and her car came to a stop in the middle of I-359 just before 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 11.

A witness told police that the woman got out of her car after the accident and was then hit by an oncoming semi-trailer truck.

The woman died at DCH Regional Medical Center.

The TPD traffic homicide squad is investigating.
