PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Funeral services have been announced for the 7-year-old girl killed in a shooting in Providence last month.

Ny'Eil Pires was shot while sitting in the back seat of her family's car on Florence Street.

Pires was taken to hospital, where she remained in critical condition for three days and eventually succumbed to her injuries.

Two men, 19-year-old Ahmari Cabrera of Providence and 26-year-old Shaheem Nathaniel of Cranston, have been charged with her murder.

“Ny'Eil's favorite pastime was making funny videos with her brothers and parents. She also enjoyed dancing, laughing and playing with her family and friends. She was happiest being a big sister to her brothers. They were her best friends,” the obituary said.

The obituary continues:

“Although she was a young girl, she was very strong and a born fighter, overcoming all obstacles in her short life. Ny'Eil brought a tremendous amount of love, joy and happiness to the family. She is devastated by her untimely death, but is happy that she has ascended to heaven to be with our beloved Lord. The family takes comfort in knowing that she rests in complete peace.”

The service will be held on Saturday, September 14th at 10 a.m. at the Central Congregational Church in Providence.

Visits are respectfully waived.
