Taylor Swift officially supports Kamala Harris and signs her caption with “Taylor Swift, childless cat lady”

Taylor Swift has broken her political silence and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as her preferred candidate for the upcoming presidential election. The A-lister made her announcement on September 10 after speculation mounted about if and when she would voice her support.

In an Instagram post, Taylor began by talking about the importance of doing your research when choosing a candidate, noting that she watched the debate between Harris and Donald Trump, before discussing the fake AI images of her “supporting” Trump that he and his campaign posted.

“I recently became aware that a story was posted on his website in which 'I' falsely endorsed Donald Trump's candidacy for president. This really heightened my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” she wrote. “It made me realize that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election. The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

On Instagram, she made her support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz clear: “I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a fighter to represent them. I think she is a calm, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country when we are led by calm, not chaos. I was so encouraged and impressed by her choice of @timwalz, who has been fighting for decades for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman's right to her own body.”

She then urged her fans to educate themselves and first make sure they are registered to vote. She signed her statement with a cheeky “Taylor Swift, childless cat lady.”
