Indianapolis Uber driver sexually assaults woman, kills her, rapes her corpse and then tells police it was a black man

An Indianapolis Uber driver who was recently arrested in connection with the death of Chanti Dixon admitted to raping and shooting the woman after picking her up from work on Sunday morning.

Francisco Valadez, 29, was arrested by IMPD Homicide Detectives on Tuesday, September 10, and tentatively charged with murder, FOX 59 reported.

Valadez admitted to police that he shot Dixon, 30, in a fit of rage after picking her up in the back seat of his car and attempting to rape her. He then said he disposed of her body in an alley in a wooded area near the victim's home.

Dixon's body found after her phone was traced to the woods behind her house

Court documents filed Tuesday in Marion County Court show that officers were called to the 1800 block of Wagner Lane around 1 p.m. Monday after a woman's body was found in a nearby wooded area. When police arrived, they found the woman naked, unresponsive and lying on her stomach.

The victim's family said they traced her phone to the woods behind her home, where they found her body and called police. Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene. She had a gunshot wound to the left side of her head.

A woman near the scene told police that the dead woman was her daughter, who had been missing since early Sunday morning. The woman told officers that her daughter got home from work around 3:30 a.m. and called an Uber to get home. No one has spoken to her since.

Valadez told investigators that a black man tried to steal her car, Rob Dixon, and shot her

IMPD officers reportedly found two cell phones in the wooded area near Dixon's body. Both phones were identified as belonging to Dixon. A search of the phones led investigators to Valadez.

Investigators then went to Valadez's home and began questioning him about Dixon. He told police he picked up Dixon on Sunday, but then began to tell a story about how an armed black man came to his car and tried to rob Dixon.

“[Valadez] added that the suspect shot [Dixon] in the thigh and that she kicked herself out of his car and he fled the scene,” police wrote. “He also said he wiped the blood off his car.”

Police also reportedly spoke with Valadez's mother, who told them that her son owned a gun that he regularly carried with him. She added that he had recently cleaned out his car and the items were still inside. After police seized the items as evidence, they took Valadez in for questioning.

Valadez said he killed Dixon after she insulted his body and tried to have sex with her corpse

Investigators took Valadez to IMPD's Homicide Unit, where he was reportedly read his Miranda rights and signed a waiver agreeing to speak to police. After telling several stories about what happened to Dixon, Valadez reportedly admitted to what actually happened.

“Mr. Valadez told two different stories about what happened to Ms. Dixon,” police wrote.

According to investigators, Valadez admitted to raping the woman in the back seat of his car. During the rape, she insulted his body, Valadez said. This allegedly made him angry and led to him shooting Dixon in the head.

Valadez told police he dragged Dixon from his car after the shooting and dumped her lifeless body behind a concrete barrier at the end of Wagner Lane. The Uber driver also admitted to trying to have sex with Dixon's body, police said.

Valadez was subsequently taken into custody by IMPD and later booked into the Marion County Jail on murder charges. IMPD officials said Tuesday that additional charges are expected in the case. An initial court hearing in his case has not yet been scheduled.
