TV farewell 2015: This is what Stefan Raab has done since then

His TV comeback is on Saturday, September 14th, in a boxing match against Regina Halmich (47). In the long course of his entertainment career, Stefan Raab (57) was responsible for a wealth of TV successes. The TV giant made his impressive final appearance in December 2015 in the 55th edition of “Schlag den Raab”. Aktive was exclusively involved in the background of various TV formats.

Stefan Raab: “The thing of the year”

The show “The Thing of the Year”, a show for inventors, ran from 2018 to 2020 on ProSieben. Not only did Stefan Raab come up with the idea, he also acted as producer. In “The Thing of the Year”, inventive people present their innovations in competitions. The audience decided on the best invention in the final. A team of experts, including Lena Gercke (36) and Joko Winterscheidt (45), evaluated the innovations presented. The third and final season was broadcast on March 29, 2020.

“Headis WM” and “FameMaker”

In March 2020, a sporting TV event was added with “The 1st Headis Team World Championship”. It was a “header table tennis” tournament. In this competition, two opponents play a rubber ball back and forth on a table tennis table, with only the head being allowed to be used. A total of six teams competed against each other, each consisting of a header table tennis professional and a prominent teammate. Elton (53) took over the moderation. So far, it has remained a one-off live performance.

In September 2020, “FameMaker” launched on ProSieben. In it, Carolin Kebekus (44), Luke Mockridge (35) and Teddy Teclebrhan (41) had to select candidates as coaches without having heard them sing beforehand. The participants performed under a soundproof glass dome. The moderator was Tom Neuwirth (35), who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 as Conchita Wurst. After the first season in 2020, no further episodes of “FameMaker” were produced.

“Free European Song Contest” and “Freshly Roasted Daily”

In 2020, the field of the “Eurovision Song Contest 2020” fell victim to the corona pandemic. Stefan Raab organized a replacement program at short notice. In May, ProSieben will broadcast the “Free European Song Contest”, or “FreeESC” for short, at prime time. Raab was involved as a producer and described the show in advance as “the birth of a free new European song contest”.

Just two months after the “Free European Song Contest 2020”, Stefan Raab announced an additional TV project – but not for his long-standing home channel ProSieben. The showmaster produced the late-night show “Täglich frisch geröstet” exclusively for the streaming provider TVNow (now RTL+) from November 2020. After the show even moved to regular television on RTL, it was canceled after 40 episodes in April 2021.

“RTL Diving”, “Wok World Championship” and “Autoball World Championship”

Three TV formats from Stefan Raab's think tank are celebrating their comeback in 2022. Although the “TV total Wok World Cup” (last broadcast in November 2023) and the “TV total Autoball World Cup” continued to be shown on ProSieben – Raab's former home channel – the legendary diving event switched to RTL almost two years ago. The third version of the RTL format was broadcast in January 2024. On September 21, 2024, it will now return to ProSieben and be redesigned as “TV Total Turmspringen 2024” and produced by Brainpool.

Raab Entertainment instead of Brainpool

The projects in which Raab was involved include the comeback of “TV total” with presenter Sebastian Pufpaff (47) since November 2021 and “Schlag den Star” as a producer since 2018. At the end of 2023, Stefan Raab withdrew from the company Brainpool and the associated production company Raab TV. The show “American Ice Football” was still produced under his aegis in February 2024. Raab and Brainpool entered the business together with “TV total” in 1998. Together they founded the subsidiary Raab TV. Since 2024, Brainpool has held the sole rights to famous Raab formats such as “TV total”, “Schlag den Star” and “Schlag den Besten”. While “TV total” and “Schlag den Star” continue to be based on ProSieben even without Raab's involvement, “Schlag den Besten” has been broadcast on RTL with an adapted concept since 2024. The now discontinued “Blamieren oder Kassieren” also moved to RTL.

But since Raab joined Brainpool, the entertainer has not made any mistakes. Together with former ProSieben boss Daniel Rosemann (44), the TV giant has founded a new company: Raab Entertainment. The first project was a show during this year's European Football Championship in Germany. In “The RTL EM Studio – All Games, Goals, Emotions”, Jan Köppen (41) and Elton report on the highlights of the European Championship games. In addition, the game show “Eltons 12” produced by Raab Entertainment with presenter Elton is set to go into production in the fall, with broadcasting scheduled for winter 24/25.
