Man charged with murder of 17-year-old girlfriend in Stow

STOW, mass. — Prosecutors have charged a 20-year-old man with stabbing his girlfriend to death in a Stow home. Police say he lay next to her body for hours before officers burst in. Shane Curry is charged with murder in connection with the death of 17-year-old Nevaeh Goddard, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

The incident occurred on April 5 after Curry's mother asked to check on her son's well-being. Stow police then rushed to the Great Road home around 4:30 p.m. Officers tried to enter the home for two hours, but Curry refused to let them in, authorities said.

When police finally entered, they found Goddard dead with multiple stab wounds. Curry was found next to her body on a mattress in his bedroom, prosecutors said. Officials said Curry admitted to killing Goddard after a struggle and stabbing her multiple times with a sword.

Curry is currently in custody awaiting further court proceedings. Prosecutors have not released any further details about the nature of the dispute or the reasons for the violent attack.
