According to Palestinian sources, five people aged between 18 and 24 were killed in an Israeli air strike in Tubas in the West Bank. The Israeli army spoke of an “anti-terror operation” in the area of Tubas and the neighboring Tamun. Both cities are located in the northern part of the occupied West Bank. According to the army, an Israeli drone attacked an armed terrorist cell in Tubas.

According to Palestinian reports, Israeli troops had also advanced to Tubas and positioned themselves near the hospital there. The army had imposed a curfew.

Two weeks ago, Israel launched a major military operation in the West Bank. The already tense situation there has worsened significantly since the Hamas massacre that left 1,200 people dead on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent start of the Gaza war. According to the Ministry of Health in Ramallah, 670 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations, armed clashes, and attacks by extremists since the war began. The Israeli army has also recently increased its air strikes in the West Bank.

Israel conquered and occupied the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem in the Six-Day War in 1967. Although Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005, it continued to control the land, air and sea borders. The Palestinians claim these territories for their own state.
