Man convicted of repeated sexual abuse of children will not receive parole

A man convicted of continuous child sexual abuse in 2000 was denied parole Friday after having a suspended sentence revoked earlier this year, according to the Kern County District Attorney's Office.

Jesus Ibarra, 56, was found guilty in October 2000 of 38 counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and 23 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.

In 1996, Ibarra rented a room from a woman he later began dating, where she lived with other children and family members. While living there, he sexually abused three girls, ages 7, 10 and 13, prosecutors said. After the verdict, a Kern County judge sentenced Ibarra to 62 years in prison, prosecutors said.

In January of this year, Ibarra became eligible for early release under the Older Offenders Act, which provides an opportunity for parole for inmates over the age of 50 who have served at least 20 consecutive years in prison. At that point, Ibarra had served about 25 years of his sentence, prosecutors said in a news release.

However, Ibarra's parole was revoked in March and he was denied parole again on Friday. Ibarra's next parole hearing could be as early as the next 18 months, according to prosecutors.
