Tyreek Hill's agent calls for firing of Miami PD officers who arrested WR

The biggest story of the first week of the NFL season happened before Sunday's games even began. Hours before 1 p.m. EST, rumors began swirling that Miami Dolphins superstar Tyreek Hill was arrested in handcuffs by Miami police after a traffic stop.

The bodycam footage has now been released and is somewhat disturbing to watch.

To be fair, Hill was not entirely obedient. It does not appear that Hill ever disrespected or disobeyed the officers, but rather that he did not listen to them properly.

Hill was ordered to get out of the car, but as he was dragged out, it was clear that he was trying to call his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to ensure his safety in a situation that could have turned deadly very quickly.

When Hill was asked to get out of his car, he tried to call his agent instead. This resulted in Hill being dragged from the car and thrown to the pavement. Several times, Hill can be heard telling officers to “do what they have to do” so he can go to the game. Instead, officers dramatically escalated the situation.

And Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is not very happy with the situation.

“I personally think the police officers that did this to Tyreek,” Rosenhaus said as the bodycam video played, “they should be fired. Look at the guy that just kicked him there. That guy should be fired. This is out of control. The guy that jumped in, [and] put him in a chokehold? There's no reason for a police officer to have a badge that functions like that unless Tyreek was aggressive or violent or resisting in any way. It was horrific the way they treated him. They didn't treat him like a human being.”

This whole situation could have gotten very bad very quickly. It's clear from the body cam footage that the arresting officers did not know that Hill was the Dolphins' superstar receiver. They probably only acted this way because they did not think there would be any consequences for their vicious and violent actions.

It really seemed like one particular officer was escalating the situation and the others were just following suit. There has to be some way for the police to check each other when one of them goes overboard like that.

What would this situation have looked like if the suspect had not been a rich and famous NFL wide receiver?
