MUNCIE, Indiana – Muncie police arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing Tuesday morning.

On Monday at 9:31 p.m., emergency dispatch received a report of a stabbing in the 1800 block of East Cornell Avenue.

Muncie police and other emergency responders found two injured men, one of whom had a stab wound to the chest, according to Assistant Police Chief Melissa Criswell.

The 31-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, where he died at 8:24 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Delaware County Coroner Gavin Greene's office.

The other victim was treated on site for a minor injury.

Muncie police searched the city's northeast side and elsewhere throughout the night for a suspect. The man was arrested after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

He was interviewed at Muncie City Hall.

“There is no danger to the public,” Criswell said in a press release after the arrest.
