After the Italian broke her shinbone and ankle while training in her hometown of Ponte di Legno in February 2024, the 2018 Olympic downhill champion has struggled in recent months with pain caused by the metal plates and screws that had been inserted. As the Italian Ski Federation FISI reports, the metal implants have now been removed by a team of experts following another operation.

Goggia: “Had problems with the ski boot”

Goggia himself also contacted us via Instagram and explained: “I am very happy that the screw was removed because it was causing me some problems with the ski boot.”

However, the four-time downhill World Cup winner missed the important training camp in Ushuaia due to the operation and thus has to record a step backwards in her preparation for the coming season.
