Tragic drowning accident claims four young lives in Uttar Pradesh

An unfortunate incident in Nawabganj, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the tragic death of four young girls aged between 10 and 14. The victims, identified as Mehak Khatoon (14), Samia (10), Saiba (10) and Sarikul Khatoon (13), were trying to pull lotus plants from a pond when they slipped into deeper water and drowned.

The heartbreaking incident took place in Sattijor village under Nawabganj police station, according to local authorities. Sub-District Magistrate Nanpara Ashwini Kumar Pandey confirmed that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The Chief Minister of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, expressed his condolences and announced a financial assistance of Rs 400,000 to each affected family to provide them some relief in their time of deep grief.
