Show boxing match – Halmich before Raab boxing match: He relies on the element of surprise – Panorama

Bad Vilbel (dpa/lhe) – Former boxing world champion Regina Halmich looks forward to her third boxing match against Stefan Raab with respect. “The biggest mistake would be to underestimate him,” said the 47-year-old from Karlsruhe in an interview with the radio station Hit Radio FFH. “He prepared intensively, had several trainers, trained almost every day,” the former professional boxer continued about the 57-year-old. Halmich has no idea how Raab will present himself to her. “He is counting on the element of surprise.”

Raab had portrayed herself as unfit and out of shape in various videos on social media. “I think we're going to experience a big surprise and I'm prepared for anything,” said the former world champion.

It is already the third fight between the two, after duels in 2001 and 2007, both of which Halmich won. In the first duel, she even accidentally broke Raab's nose. The entertainer Raab, who had withdrawn from the public eye since 2015, is returning to the limelight with the boxing match. “He has chosen a very, very difficult path for his comeback!” said Halmich.

She also prepared intensively herself. According to the interview, Halmich ended her boxing career 17 years ago. “There is a difference between stepping into the ring as a world champion and now as a private person,” said Halmich. In preparation, she had her former trainer Thorsten Schmitz test her: “After a lot of back and forth, he said: Wow, you're still fit and there's a lot there. We'll do it.”
