O'Reilly still on the bench

Mid-Canterbury harness racing driver Sarah O'Reilly is not enjoying having to stay at home while she recovers from a training accident.

In the accident, which occurred at the Ashburton race track in July, she broke her humerus and also fractured her cheekbone and eye socket in two places.

“I had an X-ray last Wednesday and they said my arm is healing, but it will be another six weeks before I can take the cast off. I'm going back,th October. When I get the cast off my arm, I'm not sure how long the rehab will take,” O'Reilly said.

It was difficult to sit on the sidelines.

“It’s hard to just watch the drives go around.”

Sarah says she goes to her father's stable almost every day.

“I'm going to go down from home and just watch. I'm not allowed to drive. This is as exciting as my day can get. I've been watching a bit of Netflix.”

Before the accident she was last seen on Big Mama Morris at Addington on 7.th July.
