Man arrested after fatal stabbing attack on woman he lived with in Costa Mesa – Orange County Register

COSTA MESA – A 28-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested Monday on suspicion of stabbing a woman he lived with in her Costa Mesa apartment.

Denise Avila, 29, was stabbed to death in her apartment in the 500 block of Victoria Street around 8 p.m. Sunday, Costa Mesa police spokeswoman Roxi Fyad told City News Service.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and her partner, Martin Laragarcia of Costa Mesa, was arrested hours later when he returned to the apartment, Fyad said.

It is not clear whether the two are married, but they live together, Fyad said.
