In the first episode of the new season of “Who’s Stealing My Show?” comedian Kurt Krömer, podcaster Tommi Schmitt and singer Nina Chuba have not yet managed to pull off the big coup against Joko Winterscheidt. No one could steal his show after Schmitt narrowly failed in the final.

Comedian Krömer had clear difficulties getting started. However, he questioned whether he could score more points in a row in the first game. “I hope the questions will be easier,” laughed Krömer at the first question of the “Easy Five”. It was precisely this section that caused despair among Winterscheidt’s fresh challengers in the first episode.

Tommi Schmitt to Joko: “It’s true what everyone says about you”

Whether it's the rule of three, traffic signs or the question about the heads of state of the neighboring countries (except France), the three celebrities and wildcard Verena usually have a hard time. Winterscheidt's taunts between the questions are particularly offensive to Schmitt. “You're such a bad person – what everyone says about you is true,” Schmitt rants against the presenter with a wink. And a little later: “You are such a rat!”

Dentist Verena at least collects a few points, Krömer – who doesn't have a driver's license – despairs at traffic signs and Schmitt at least manages to catch up a bit in the second game. The studio band “The Mighty Winterscheidts” plays hits like “Creep” and “Tiny Dancer” in such completely different genres and languages that the candidates have a hard time guessing the original title. Chuba and Schmitt secure a few points, but it quickly becomes clear: Wildcard Verena is really giving it her all.

Wildcard Verena blocks Tommi Schmitt in the tunnel

In “You have the goods beautiful” they have to guess which film or series character could be behind the shopping items. Chuba recognises Snow White by her sunscreen and apple peeler, but Verena beats the celebrities in no time – andAnd guesses both Walter White and Edward Cullen after just two pictures.

This hasn't happened for a long time, and Winterscheidt is also delighted: Wildcard Verena wins the first prize level with 10 points, ahead of Schmitt, Krömer and Chuba, who has to leave the show. The second prize level is much tougher: everyone has to answer 15 questions in their own game tunnel, while their two opponents barricade their tunnel entrance. Only those who free themselves quickly enough are allowed to keep the points they have played.

Tommi Schmitt's competitors make life difficult: While objects from the studio are grabbed twice, Schmitt has to fight his way through a human chain from the audience to secure some points. “Don’t let this man out,” the motivated Verena calls out to the audience. The presenter fails miserably, but Verena and comedian Krömer are able to free themselves quickly.

Suddenly Mario Basler blows “Mambo No. 5”

For the next game, Winterscheidt contacted several of his celebrity friends. Anke Engelke, Lena Gercke, Giovanni Zarrella, Mario Basler and many others suddenly appeared on the large studio screen in unusual tones. The gag: Everyone embodies a different instrument, which then creates a song.

But the drums, trumpets and horns of the celebrities are difficult to recognize, at least that's what the candidates think. “They're supposed to be songs,” asks Krömer, who has already earned the reputation of being the slowest candidate. At least Schmitt recognizes “I kissed a girl” by Katy Perry.

Wildcard Verena puts celebrities in the shade

Krömer is eliminated and the decisive game for the top 2 is about to begin. During a “Pret-a-Trottel” fashion show, Schmitt and wildcard Verena – disguised as the designer of the collection – have to read the appropriate teleprompter text and fill in the gaps. “Absurdly, it suits you,” says Winterscheidt, praising Tommi Schmitt’s outfit.

In the stress, Schmitt doesn't even notice that Winterscheidt opened the show dressed as a paddling pool. In the end, he loses to Verena and is eliminated with one point less shortly before the final.

“I would really like you to host this show,” says presenter Winterscheidt, praising his chosen wildcard. “You've outplayed all the professionals here,” he says to Verena, who seems almost overwhelmed by the audience's thunderous applause. But in the end, “Joko is simply a smart man,” Verena accepts, and loses to the showmaster in the final. The show remains with Winterscheidt and his celebrities were overshadowed by a wildcard.

The idea that social media stars will do anything for money is a cliché, but there is sometimes a grain of truth behind it. Nikocado Avocado (real name: Nicholas Perry) is proof of this. The 32-year-old rose to fame by consuming huge amounts of food in front of the camera. Because he thinks that's what people want to see.
