Weather in Manitoba: Hot temperatures in September

Monday marks the start of a hot week for Winnipeg and all of Manitoba, not just in September but any time of year.

Expect highs of -0 degrees, with sunshine and wind throughout southern Manitoba.

Highs of 30°C are forecast for Winnipeg, but this is nowhere near the record high temperature set on September 9.

To do this, we have to go back to 1906, when the temperature in the city rose to 36.1 °C.

However, the normal daily maximum temperature at this time of year is only 19 °C.

However, there is a good chance that the western side of the province could set some records today, with temperatures of around 33°C forecast in many areas in the southwest.

Temperatures in most parts of northern Manitoba will also rise above -2°C in the sun this afternoon.

Sunny conditions and maximum temperatures between -2 and -4 degrees Celsius are also expected in northwestern Ontario today.

While a ridge of high pressure is keeping the skies over Manitoba clear today, we will soon feel the effects of a low pressure system leaving northern Alberta.

The cold front associated with the low pressure system will reach Manitoba on Tuesday morning. It will bring with it smoke from wildfires in British Columbia.

The smoke will not stay for long, however. It will dissipate behind the front tomorrow when it passes through.

In addition, the front will not be too strong as it moves across the province and therefore will not cause drastic temperature fluctuations.

Daily maximum temperatures will be around -4 °C in the south on Wednesday, before warming up again for the rest of the week.
