CID files 1,632-page additional chargesheet against Prajwal Revanna

(MENAFN-IANS) Bengaluru, Sept 9 (IANS) The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday filed a 1,632-page supplementary chargesheet against Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, the main accused in the sex video scandal.

The chargesheet was filed by the SIT officials in the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court on Monday.

According to a police source, the indictment includes a list of 113 witnesses in connection with the rape and kidnapping of a maid who worked in his house.

Police had previously submitted a 2,000-page preliminary indictment to the court, which included 123 witnesses in the case.

Prajwal Revanna is accused of committing a sexual assault at the Basavanagudi family home in Bengaluru. He attacked and sexually assaulted the woman who came to the house to clean when his mother, Bhavani Revanna, was not present.

After the rape, he recorded a video. He threatened the victim not to tell anyone and warned her that if she told anyone, he would send her husband to prison.

Earlier, the Karnataka High Court on Monday adjourned a hearing on the bail plea of ​​the former JD-S MP in connection with the sex video scandal to September 12.

The High Court, headed by Justice M. Nagaprasanna, further said that an order for a closed hearing would be obtained from the Chief Justice and the lawyers would be informed thereof.

Prajwal Revanna is charged with sexually abusing his 47-year-old housekeeper and later sending obscene videos to the victim's daughter and threatening that her daughter would suffer the same fate.

He was arrested early on May 30 at Bengaluru International Airport while returning from Germany after his grandfather HD Deve Gowda and his uncle HD Kumaraswamy, who is also Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, made a public appeal for him to come and surrender before the authorities.

His father, JD-S MP HD Revanna, and mother Bhavani Revanna were arrested in the kidnapping and rape case linked to the sex video scam and are currently out on bail. His younger brother, JD(S) MP Suraj Revanna, who was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing male party workers, is also out on bail.
