BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule's son, Audi, rams several vehicles in Nagpur, 2 injured

Mumbai: In the early hours of Monday, the car of Sanket Bawankule, son of Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, went out of control and collided with other vehicles in Nagpur in what is increasingly escalating into a political incident.

According to reports available here, at least two people were injured.

Sitabuldi police station is investigating the case.

The occupants of the car, an Audi, were returning from a beer bar in Dharampeth when the incident occurred.

The necessary examinations of the inmates are carried out.

The car was hit by another car and then by a two-wheeler in Nagpur's Ramdaspeth area.

Bawankule, an MLC and former minister, admitted that the car involved in the accident belonged to his son.

“The police should investigate the accident thoroughly and impartially, without bias. The culprits should be charged and appropriate action taken against them. The law applies to everyone,” Bawankule said.

The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi has raised the issue.

“In Nagpur, the son of a senior BJP politician hit four to five cars in a drunken state in the middle of the night, after which the entire Home Ministry rushed to rescue and hide the boy. So is law and order only there to torment the common people?” the Maharashtra Congress posted on X with an alleged video of the incident.

Atul Londhe, spokesperson of the Maharashtra Congress, demanded an investigation. “This government does not value the lives of the people of this state. This government only protects its own leaders and money thieves. But this government will have to pay the price in the future.”

Now the people will answer this government,” he said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare said an expensive car blew up several cars in Ramdaspeth. “But surprisingly, the RTO has not taken any action,” she said.
