Teenager on bicycle taxi killed when hit by dump truck – India TV

In a tragic accident, a young bike taxi driver died in Greater Noida's Gautam Buddha Nagar when a dump truck crashed into the bike, police said on Monday. The impact was so severe that the boy died on the spot.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Sameer. Sameer was 18 years old and a resident of Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. Police said the incident took place on Sunday evening when Sameer was travelling to Noida Extension in a motorcycle taxi. A dumper truck rammed the motorcycle taxi, causing Sameer to die on the spot, police said. In the accident, the driver of the motorcycle taxi was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital, police added.

The injured driver was treated while Sameer's body was sent for post-mortem. Police further said that an investigation was underway.

On September 6, 17 people, including seven men, four women and six children, died when a bus rammed the pickup truck they were travelling in in Hathras, police said. The bus had driven into the vehicle from behind on National Highway 93 in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh.

Several people were injured in the accident and were admitted to a government hospital. Soon after the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed district officials to reach the accident site and take care of relief efforts. The Chief Minister also asked the officials to ensure proper treatment to the injured.

Later, Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi announced an ex-gratia donation of Rs 200,000 each for the next of kin of the deceased. In addition, a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 was also announced for those injured in the tragic accident.
