Sault theatre group cancels fall show after death of performer

“Due to the unexpected and tragic death of a cast member, we will not be going forward with our fall production of Sweeney Todd,” says Sault Theatre Workshop

Sault Theatre Workshop announces that an upcoming production is cancelled following the unexpected death of a cast member.

Anyone who has already purchased tickets will receive a full refund, the theater group said.

The long-standing local theater group and Shot in the Dark productions were to bring Stephen Sondheim's musical thriller to the stage Sweeney Todd: The Devilish Barber from Fleet Street from October 29th to November 3rd as the season opening.

“Due to the unexpected and tragic death of a cast member, we will not be going forward with our fall production of Sweeney Todd,” Sault Theatre Workshop said in a statement posted on its website.

“A full refund of tickets already purchased is possible at the Station Mall box office.

“Sault Theatre Workshop will make an announcement about its current season in the coming weeks. Shot in the Dark will be taking a break from theatre for the time being.

“The cast and crew would like to extend their thoughts and support to the family during this difficult time. With much love for our friend, we thank you for your understanding.”
