Teacher arrested for sexually abusing 12-year-old girl at Bhadohi school

Bhadohi: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused by her teacher in a public school, police said on Monday.

The accused was identified as Vinay Babu (35), they said.

According to police, a complaint was filed against Babu accusing him of sexually abusing a fifth-grade girl at a public school.

The complainant told police that the incident took place on Saturday when Babu took the girl to a secluded place in the school and sat her on his lap. He sexually abused her. The girl managed to escape and rushed to her family and narrated the incident, SHO Sachidanand Pandey said.

The family then contacted the police, Pandey said.

Based on the complaint, an FIR was filed and Babu was arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, he said.

Babu was arrested on Monday, he added.

Meanwhile, District Basic Education Officer Bhupendra Narayan Singh said the accused had been suspended with immediate effect.
