Unpredictable driver injured in single-vehicle accident

ELY TOWNSHIP, MI – A 67-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after his vehicle crashed in Ely Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff's Office responded to a complaint of erratic driving on US-41 at approximately 1:53 p.m. Officers stopped the vehicle near Michigamme.

The vehicle spun and left the roadway several times, striking a traffic sign and a guardrail, then left the road and came to rest in a ditch on the north side of US-41 near North Max Street.

The driver was transported to UPHS-Marquette with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.
