Tonight is the day: Apple is inviting you to the next keynote livestream and will probably present the tenth generation of the Apple Watch alongside the new iPhone generation. What do we already know?

Apple's annual September keynote will take place this evening at 7 p.m. German time. Fans and experts are expecting, among other things, the presentation of the new Apple Watches – there will probably be an Apple Watch Series 10 and an Apple Watch Ultra 3. We'll reveal here which new features are being speculated about until then.

Apple Watch X or Apple Watch Series 10: What do we expect from the new model?

On September 9, 2014, Apple introduced the first Apple Watch – that was exactly ten years ago. Whether Apple will come up with some special innovations for the smartwatch anniversary will only become clear at the keynote. However, speculation suggests that we can expect some new features both technically and visually, as the last two generations were quite similar to their predecessors.

The Apple Watch Series 10 – or Apple Watch X, if the manufacturer follows the naming of the iPhones – will come with a larger and flatter case. The 41-millimeter variants could soon be a thing of the past if the assumptions turn out to be true and Apple adapts the case sizes of the normal Apple Watch to those of the Ultra model. The Apple Watch X is expected to be available in sizes 45 and 49 millimeters.

As far as the design is concerned, journalists and experts are also speculating about a magnetic attachment of the wristbands to the case – instead of the old grooves. This would create more space in the case, for example for a larger battery.

New health features on the Apple Watch X?

As a middle ground between a smartphone extension and a fitness tracker, the Apple Watch monitors numerous health parameters and records sports and activities. In addition to the existing functions of creating an ECG, measuring temperature and blood oxygen, and recording sleep, the Apple Watch X could add the following features:

• Blood pressure monitoring and warning of high blood pressure,
• Monitoring sleep apnea and warning of irregular nighttime breathing,
• Paid subscription service for fitness and health coaching.

Apple Watch Series 9: What could the current model be?

Last year, Apple was rather reserved when it came to major innovations. The Apple Watch Series 9 received a brighter display, a more powerful processor and the option of gesture control. The watch also measures numerous health parameters, records activities and sleep and can also be used for making calls, chatting, navigating and paying thanks to a smartphone connection or its own SIM card.

What about the Apple Watch Ultra 3?

Experts expect fewer major innovations in the Apple Watch Ultra 3 because the model series is only in its third generation. However, the new features of the Apple Watch Series 10 should also be included in the Ultra version.

Thanks to its high-quality features, the current Apple Watch Ultra 2 is also suitable for extreme sports and outdoor experiences. For example, it has an emergency siren and can even be used as a diving computer.

When will the new Apple Watch be available?

It is not yet clear when exactly the Apple Watch X or Series 10 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will be available to buy. If Apple follows the same schedule for smartwatches as it did for smartphones, the new Apple Watches will be available for pre-order from September 13th.
