Tshwane Metro police officer dies in fatal accident – LNN

The tragic death of a Tshwane Metro police officer following an accident on Saturday has sparked mourning across the metro.

According to a statement from the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD), Constable Reason Mnisi died in an accident at the intersection of Justice Mahomed Street and Gerhard Moerdyk Street in Sunnyside.

A dedicated Mnisi served diligently in Region Three, Sector Two (inner city), said TMPD spokesman Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

Mahamba said the accident occurred as Mnisi was returning from a marathon event in Brooklyn.

“Mnini was a true fighter and a pillar of professionalism and dedication.

“Mnisi was known for his unwavering commitment and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. The loss of Mnisi is deeply regretted throughout the department and by the community he served with distinction,” Mahamba said.

He said Mnisi was celebrated for his reliability and hard work and had always put the needs of the public above all else.

“The department and the city are united in their grief and support for the family as they navigate this difficult time. Mnisi's death is a sobering reminder of the inherent risks police officers face on a daily basis,” Mahamba said.

He added that details of Mnisi's memorial service and funeral arrangements would be announced in due course.

“Mnisi's death is a poignant reminder of the selfless commitment of police officers who risk their lives every day to keep their communities safe. His legacy will live on through the impact he had and the lives he touched.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mnisi’s family, friends and colleagues as they mourn this difficult loss.”
