Temperatures could drop to 21 degrees by Wednesday

Temperatures will still be in the triple digits on Sunday, but the heat should ease, says the meteorologist

Inland Ventura County, temperatures reached above 68 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday, but the heat is expected to ease over the next few days and temperatures could drop to above 70 degrees Fahrenheit across the county on Wednesday and Thursday.

Highs are expected to drop 3 to 5 degrees on Monday, to 100 to 104 degrees, said Carol Smith, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard. Tuesday will be “significantly cooler,” with highs inland dropping to the high 80s to high 90s, she said.

Temperatures on Sunday reached 106 degrees in Simi Valley and up to 105 degrees in Thousand Oaks, she said Sunday afternoon.

In Fillmore, it was 41.6 degrees, in Santa Paula it was 41.6 degrees, she said. In Ojai and the Ojai Valley, it was 39 to 41.6 degrees.

However, residents of some coastal areas were lucky with the heat wave. At Oxnard Airport it was a comparatively mild 26 degrees and at Marina Park in Ventura it was 21 degrees.

Stabbing reported in Moorpark

A man was stabbed in a Moorpark apartment complex over the weekend, but his injuries were not life-threatening, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said.

The stabbing occurred late Saturday when people were apparently arguing near a pool area at the Avery at Moorpark apartment complex in the 4700 block of South Moorpark Road, Sheriff Capt. James Sullivan said Sunday evening.

The stabbing victim and another man who suffered facial bruises in the incident sought treatment on their own at Simi Valley Hospital, Sullivan said. The stabbing victim was taken from Simi Hospital to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for treatment, he said.

No one is in custody and investigations are ongoing, he said.
