Hong Kong authorities investigate alleged sexual assault by a teacher on a 16-year-old student

Hong Kong education authorities are investigating allegations that a male teacher sexually abused a 16-year-old girl in his home two years ago.

The Department of Education confirmed to the Washington Post on Sunday that the school had submitted a report to the government pledging to hold the teacher accountable if professional misconduct was found.

“In serious cases, the department, after examining various factors in accordance with the Education Ordinance, will revoke the teacher's registration and the teacher will no longer be allowed to teach in the schools,” the department said.

Authorities did not disclose the name of the school.

A social media post by the alleged victim six days ago backed up the allegations with photos of three pages of handwritten notes, sparking outrage among Internet users.
