Monsoon thunderstorms could bring strong, erratic winds, hail, lightning and heavy rains in the mountains – NBC 7 San Diego

It was already hot, but it will be even hotter near the coast, where the heat will reach its peak today. Just a few kilometers from the coast, temperatures could average between 35 and 35 degrees Celsius.

Due to the dangerous heat, a heat warning is in effect in coastal areas until Monday evening. Temperatures will be between 27 and 35 degrees, with nighttime lows between 21 and 25 degrees. For those without air conditioning, cooling centers are a good alternative.

In some parts of the county, such as Ramona, Escondido and Alpine, records are possible.

A heat warning is also in effect for the valleys and foothills until Monday night, with temperatures between 102 and 110 degrees and a slight chance of thunderstorms. The chance of thunderstorms is higher over the mountains and deserts today.

Monsoon moisture will continue to produce storms like yesterday, but today there is a greater chance of thunderstorms. Thunderstorms could bring up to a half inch of rain, gusty winds and lightning.

Winds will shift on Monday, but storms can still form in the mountains. The air will become drier by Tuesday, and temperatures will become noticeably cooler by mid to late week. Temperatures will drop to near-normal levels by Thursday.

Take care of yourself and take breaks when necessary. Staying hydrated and cool-headed will be a challenge.
