Kuki militias attack Jiri again – The Sangai Express

IMPHAL, September 8: Kuki militias attacked Jiribam for the second consecutive day today by bombarding and shelling Mongbung Meitei village from neighbouring Kuki village in the Border District.
There are no reports of injuries.
The attack was launched at around 4:45 a.m. from Mongbung Kuki village by well-armed Kuki militias with state-of-the-art weapons.
Volunteers from the village also returned fire and the shooting lasted about an hour.
According to reports, the Kuki militias fired several bombs and attempted to advance towards Meetei village.
The Kuki militias attacked the same village of Meetei again in the evening at around 5:15 p.m., and after the village volunteers and security forces retaliated, a shootout ensued.
Reinforcements of the security forces rushed to the scene of the accident.
Another source said that Kuki militias fired some volleys from Laloiphai Kuki village towards Sugnu this morning, but no one was injured in the attack. Security forces in the areas around Sugnu are on high alert, the source added.
One found dead: On September 7, at around 3:45 pm, an unidentified man was found dead on the bank of Imphal River near Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel, Imphal West.
While the police were evacuating the man to RIMS Hospital, the doctor declared him dead.
The body was then deposited in the RIMS morgue.
The deceased is of medium build, 1.52 m tall, has a wheat-colored complexion, a round face and black hair.
He wore a long-sleeved shirt (blue and white), a t-shirt (white), an underwear piece (grey), jeans (light wash), a belt (fabric) and a pair of slippers (sandals).
