Jigawa police arrest man for sexual abuse of minors

Jigawa State Police officers have arrested a 32-year-old man named Bashir Umar for allegedly luring an eight-year-old girl into a toilet, torturing her and sexually abusing her.

The command's spokesperson, DSP Lawan Adam, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that Umar hails from Galamawa town in Dutse Local Government Area of ​​the state.

He added that the suspect subjected the girl to unimaginable torture before sexually abusing her under the most callous circumstances. He said that Umar inserted a pair of scissors and a spoon into the innocent girl's private parts.

The command spokesman complained that the perpetrator took advantage of the girl's vulnerability by offering her 150 naira and threatening to harm her and her parents if she told anyone about the sexual abuse.

The statement reads: “The perpetrator then took advantage of the girl’s vulnerability, offered her 150 naira and threatened to harm her and her parents if she told anyone about the sexual abuse.

“After the sexual trauma, the victim suffered severe physical consequences, including complications with urination and defecation.

“The survivor is currently at Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse where she has been admitted and is receiving treatment.

“The suspect was arrested and handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for discreet investigation.”
