Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash in Schuir

On Saturday there was a serious accident between a car and a motorcycle in Essen-Schuir. One person was seriously injured and taken to hospital.

On Saturday afternoon, there was a serious traffic accident on Schuirweg in Essen-Schuir near Wallneyer Straße between a car and a motorcyclist. The latter was seriously injured.

According to the police, the 28-year-old was riding his motorcycle on Schuirweg in the direction of Werden at around 2:30 p.m. He then reported witnesses trying to overtake a van in front of him on a slight right-hand bend. The 29-year-old driver of a VW Passat coming towards him was unable to brake and therefore collided with the motorcycle.

The force of the impact threw the motorcyclist into a field, where he remained seriously injured. The car driver and his 24-year-old passenger were slightly injured. All three people involved in the accident were taken to hospital.

The Schuirweg had to be closed in both directions for several hours while the accident was being recorded and the road was being cleaned. The car and the motorcycle were impounded. The investigation is continuing.
