Sexual abuse of minors: Defendant sentenced to 30 years in prison

Mysore: The city Additional District and Sessions Court FTSC-1 Special Courthas sentenced a man to 30 years in prison and a fine of Rs 100,000 for luring a minor girl on the pretext of giving her a mango and then sexually abusing her.

On July 15, 2023, the accused had lured a five-year-old girl to his house in a village in Bannur police district on the pretext of giving her mangoes and sexually abused her. Bannur Inspector TS Lolakshi, who registered the case, conducted an investigation and filed the chargesheet in the court.

Special POCSO Judge Anand P. Hogade, who took over the case, heard the arguments of both sides, found the accused guilty of committing the crime, sentenced him to 30 years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 100,000.

The judge also ordered that the victim be fined Rs 100,000 and pointed out that the victim was entitled to compensation of Rs 600,000. Public prosecutor KB Jayanti argued on behalf of the government.
