New film 'God's Not Dead' inspires Christians to raise their voices at the ballot box

A new film in the “God's Not Dead” series encourages Christians not to be afraid to stand up for their faith and use their influence in politics.

“God's Not Dead: In God We Trust,” which hits theaters September 12, tells the fictional story of a pastor whose faith is tested as he runs against an anti-religious senator in a congressional race.

“In a time of profound political, social and spiritual unrest, Reverend David Hill grapples with the crucial question: Does God still have a place in politics?” says the film’s synopsis.

Producer Michael Scott told Fox News Digital that the film explores the intersection of faith and politics while challenging Christians to raise their voices even when they face opposition.

FAITH VOTER WILL ‘DECIDE THE ELECTION’, SAY PROMINENT GOP MEMBERS

“I think there has been a wave in recent years where people have been afraid to speak publicly about their faith,” Scott said.

“There was this stigma. But I think we're starting to see people sharing their faith more openly, talking about it, saying how it affects them and what it means to them. And I think you see the same thing with the character of David,” he continued.

“I think we all come to a point where we are depressed. We are all these things [David goes through] and we think, should we just give up? But I believe those who persevere get the best results. I believe God honors that too,” he said.

The film highlights that millions of Christians choose not to vote and encourages believers to change this trend.

“We should vote for what we stand for,” Scott said. “Vote for the candidates that best fit your needs.”

“As a Christian, I think we need to do that,” he continued. “I always say, let your voice be heard, let your voice be heard. I think that's so important. And I think in today's world, there's such a political divide. I don't think one person can bridge that divide. I think when we put God at the center, we can see a difference.”

Successful filmmaker opens studio for religious audience: “We want to flood the world with hope”

“'God's Not Dead: In God We Trust' is a stark reminder that complacency can undermine our freedoms, our independence and our faith if we do not actively defend and maintain them,” Scott added in a press release. “If we truly believe in a faithful God who is 'always good,' we must be willing to speak our minds and hold fast to our convictions, even in the face of great risk and opposition.”

In the film, David AR White plays Reverend David Hill. The supporting cast includes Isaiah Washington, Dean Cain, Samaire Armstrong, Ray Wise, Scott Baio and Charlene Tilton. There are also cameos by Governor Mike Huckabee, Raymond Arroyo and the Grammy-winning band Newsboys.

Audiences can expect more films in the coming months from Great American Pure Flix and Pinnacle Peak Pictures, the religious production company and studio that Scott heads.

“Average Joe,” a film about Christian high school football coach Joe Kennedy, who was fired for praying on the field and took his case to the U.S. Supreme Court, hits theaters in October.

In addition, a religious film based on “The Last Supper” is in the works and is scheduled to be released in theaters next Easter.
