Liverpool stabbing: Watch the terrifying moment a Good Samaritan is stabbed in the chest after rushing to a woman's aid

Video surveillance shows that a Good Samaritan was stabbed multiple times after rushing to help a woman who was being attacked.

The 44-year-old man remains in hospital after being stabbed multiple times along Liverpool Main Street in southwest Sydney early Sunday morning.

CCTV footage recorded on Macquarie Street at around 2.22am showed a man running into the frame, followed by a woman who attempted to grab him before he could push him away.

Police allege the man had previously attacked the woman in a parked car before the Good Samaritan, unknown to the couple, intervened.

The surveillance camera films the Good Samaritan as he observes the man and woman scuffling near a car.

He took off his jacket and went over to break up the argument.

The man was seen taking a knife out of his car and walking toward the Good Samaritan, who was stabbed multiple times.

The Good Samaritan flees, clutching his wounds. The knife attacker gives chase, but stumbles to the ground.

Emergency services treated the Good Samaritan for numerous stab wounds before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene has been secured and investigations into the case have been initiated.

The woman involved in the incident is assisting the police in their investigation.

The police are determined to hunt down the knife attacker.

“These crimes are disturbing to the community but rest assured we are doing everything we can and using all the resources at our disposal,” Chief Inspector Rob Duncan told reporters.

“If there is no justifiable reason for carrying a knife, you will face a severe prison sentence.”

Police are asking anyone with information or a dashcam to come forward.
