Edinburgh boy, 17, hospitalized after stabbing as teenager accused

A teenager was hospitalized after allegedly being stabbed near a bus stop.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident on Broomhouse Road in Edinburgh on Friday evening.

The alarm was raised around 10 p.m. after officers received reports of a serious attack on a teenager.

When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy with injuries on the street near a bus stop.

He was in the Royal The Edinburgh Infirmary is in the ambulance for treatment.

His current condition is unknown.

Police cordoned off the area over the weekend and closed off a section of the road for several hours.

Paramedics were also seen on site, an ambulance was parked next to a bus stop.

Lothian Buses had to divert operations due to the road closure.

Police officers have launched an investigation into the incident.

Police confirmed that an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident.

He is due to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Police also said a second teenager, a 17-year-old male, had been arrested in connection with the incident.

No charges have been filed against him, but officials said the investigation is ongoing.

A Police Scottish spokesman said: “Police received a report of a 17-year-old male who was seriously assaulted on Broomhouse Road, Edinburgh at around 10pm on Friday 6 September 2024.”

“He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

“An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow, Monday 9 September.

“In this context, a 17-year-old man was also arrested and further investigations are ongoing.”
