Tragic leap of a candidate for public service

A 28-year-old civil service aspirant allegedly ended his life by jumping from the eighth floor of a building in Thane, Maharashtra, police reported on Sunday.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday around 8:30 pm in the Vartak Nagar area.

An officer from Vartak Nagar police station said that the authorities found a suicide note in his residence in which he expressed regret for not being able to live up to his family's high expectations and for struggling to cope with the stresses of life.

The man, who was reportedly suffering from depression after failing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam, jumped from his eighth-floor apartment and succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

The officer mentioned that his suicide note said that he was having difficulty surviving in this world and apologized to his parents and siblings. He stressed that no one else was responsible for his death. The body has been sent for postmortem and the Vartak Nagar police have registered a case of accidental death.
