Liverpool, Sydney: Good Samaritan stabbed to death after trying to save woman allegedly attacked by man in car

A Good Samaritan was stabbed while trying to save a woman who was allegedly being attacked by a man in a car.

The woman was allegedly attacked in a car parked on Macquarie Street in Liverpool, western Sydney, at 2am on Sunday.

A 44-year-old man unknown to the two then tried to intervene.

The emergency services were called to the scene and found the Good Samaritan with numerous stab wounds.

A crime scene has been secured and investigations into the case have been initiated.

The woman was not injured and spoke to the police.

It was the second stabbing that night, following an unrelated incident hours earlier.

According to New South Wales Police, a fight broke out at Circular Quay in the city's central business district at around 12:30 a.m., during which a 20-year-old man was stabbed with a broken glass bottle.

The young man was found at the scene with a chest injury and taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition, a police spokesman said.

“Officers from the Sydney City Police Area Command were informed that another man involved in the incident left the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services,” the spokesman said.

“It is assumed that neither party knows each other.”
