Analyst makes bold prediction for New England Patriots rookie WR

The New England Patriots desperately need help with their receivers, but they may have found the answer in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Patriots selected Washington Huskies wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk in the second round of the draft last spring, securing a player many consider to be a surprise prospect in his class.

With New England lacking proven talent in the Air Raid field, Polk could play a significant role for the team this year.

Count Bleacher Report's David Kenyon among those who firmly believe in the first-year pass catcher, as Kenyon ranks him No. 5 in his top-six rookies most likely to become household names this season.

“Even if Polk doesn't officially have a starting spot, New England lacks proven receivers. He will get his chances,” Kenyon wrote. “Just being on the field is half the battle, and Polk should be a regular for the Pats as a rookie.”

Kenyon sums it up.

The Pats are so thin on the outside position that Polk could get a chance simply because the team doesn't have many options.

DeMario Douglas is currently listed as the Patriots' best receiver, but Polk could well become his rival later in the year.

New England tried to sign Calvin Ridley as a free agent but was turned down. Instead, the Patriots had to settle for KJ Osborn, who is really nothing more than a nice extra option. The Patriots also selected receiver Javon Baker in the fourth round of the draft, but it seems hard to imagine him overtaking Polk in the rankings.

Chances are Polk will get opportunities early and often, and it's up to him to make the most of them.

Polk caught 69 passes for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns in his final season in Washington, achieving those numbers as the Huskies' second-leading receiver behind Rome Odunze.

Of course, the shaky quarterback situation in New England could negatively impact Polk's performance, but if Jacoby Brissett (or Drake Maye) ultimately warms up to him, he could become one of the most productive rookie playmakers in the NFL this year.
