Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Unit assists in September 5th murder case

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is working with the Searcy County Sheriff's Office to investigate a homicide in Saint Joe.

According to a press release, the SCSO notified the ASP on Thursday, September 5, 2024, after 43-year-old Amanda Stansbery was found dead in her home.

Officers conducted a stop at the victim's residence on Chipley Road after her husband, Jeffrey Stansbery, 75, told staff that he had harmed his wife at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri.

He first went to the hospital and complained about his symptoms.

Jeffrey Stansberry is currently being held in Branson, Missouri while awaiting extradition to Searcy County.

He is accused of having allegedly committed murder and also of having committed desecration of a corpse.
