Several NWSL media partners, led by CBS Sports, will simultaneously broadcast soccer legend Alex Morgan’s final game

Morgan's final game at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego will air on Sunday, September 8 at 5:00 p.m. PT / 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network, Paramount+, NWSL+, Prime Video, ESPN2 and locally on KUSI.

The broadcast is the first women's sporting event to be shown simultaneously on multiple channels in the United States.

SAN DIEGO (September 6, 2024) – The San Diego Wave and the National Women's Soccer League today announced that NWSL legend Alex Morgan's final career game, featuring San Diego Wave FC versus North Carolina Courage, will be featured on the league's media partners. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, Paramount+, NWSL+, Prime Video, ESPN2 and locally on KUSI.

The decision to show Morgan's final game on all broadcast partners marks the first time a women's sporting event in the U.S. has been shown simultaneously on multiple networks. Sunday night's game was originally scheduled to air on NWSL+ and Paramount+.

“Alex Morgan has had an immeasurable impact on both the NWSL and the global soccer community – and she has inspired generations of players and fans around the world,” said NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman. “We are so grateful to CBS Sports for helping to elevate the league, for always being great partners and recognizing the pivotal moment to make this unprecedented broadcast possible, as well as Prime Video and ESPN for their partnership in celebrating a true sports legend. For our partners to come together to celebrate Alex is an event that speaks volumes about the power of sports and female athletes to unite fans everywhere. Alex couldn't be more deserving of this moment.”

Morgan has played in the NWSL since the league's inception in 2013. In her 12 seasons with the San Diego Wave, Orlando Pride and Portland Thorns, Morgan scored 60 career goals. She won the 2022 NWSL Golden Boot with 15 goals and led Portland to its first-ever NWSL championship in 2013. Internationally, Morgan is a two-time world champion (2015, 2019) and Olympic gold medalist. She has played for the U.S. senior national team since 2010.

Off the field, she is a passionate advocate for the rights of girls and women in sport, leading the fight for equal pay and advocating for safer sports environments. This season is the first under the NWSL's new media rights deal, which runs through 2027. Last year, the league announced a groundbreaking four-year national rights deal with CBS Sports, ESPN, Prime Video and Scripps that includes 118 games broadcast live nationwide. The $240 million deal was the largest media deal ever for a women's sports league when it was announced in 2023.

CBS Sports will air 30-minute pre- and post-game studio shows that will be simulcast on CBS Sports Network and Paramount+. The Attacking Third crew, including analysts Lisa Carlin and Darian Jenkins and courtside reporter Jenny Chiu, will be on hand. Studio coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET. Game coverage will be anchored by live commentator Maura Sheridan in the booth alongside analyst Jordan Angeli, while Jenny Chiu provides commentary from the courtside.
