Tony Khan ‘shocked and appalled’ by Stephen P News comments on Jim Ross

Tony Khan has fired back at Stephen P. New, the lawyer representing Kevin Kelly and the Tate Twins (The Boys).

Shortly after it was announced that Kelly and the Tates had filed a lawsuit against AEW, in part to challenge the classification of wrestlers as independent contractors, Jim Ross noted on his podcast that he considered such lawsuits to be “frivolous.”

New responded to JR’s comments on House of Kayfabe, saying:

“JR, Jim Ross, called this a frivolous lawsuit. Well, let me tell you something, this is not a frivolous lawsuit. You are part of the problem. You, Jim Ross, are part of the problem because you, as Talent Relations, have been giving the guys at WWE these crap contracts for a quarter of a century. You told these guys it was a no-holds-barred deal and they had to sign these crap contracts that were gagging contracts that they never should have signed.”

“I'm not the least bit shocked that you're on Conrad Thompson's podcast and saying this is a frivolous lawsuit. I might lose, but with Godit is not frivolous.”

“Tony Khan has been paying Jim Ross a lot of money to do nothing for about five years,” New continued. “So if I were Jim Ross and I lived in Jacksonville Beach and made a lot of money without doing much, I would probably call Stephen P. New's lawsuit frivolous too. Everyone has their price.”

Khan responded to news comments on Saturday, writing:

“I just read Stephen P. News' comments on @JRsBBQ. I am shocked and appalled by these comments about the legend Jim Ross, a member of the AEW Foundation, a person who has been so important since the beginning of AEW and continues to be today. AEW, JR and I reserve all rights. See you tonight at #AEWAllOut.”
