Olympic champion attacks comedian Luke Mockridge after tasteless joke about Paralympics

The 35-year-old Mockridge had previously made disturbing statements about the Paralympics in the podcast “Die Deutschen”. “There are people without legs and arms who are thrown into a pool – and whoever drowns last wins,” the comedian said there.

A little later he added: “I also talk about the Paralympics in my show. I think it's great. A great event for inclusion. But that's pretty crazy. The first person to call another country and say: 'Hey, you know about the Olympic Games. I have disabled people in your country too, right?'”

Vogel, who won two gold medals and one bronze medal in track cycling at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and has been paraplegic since a training accident in June 2018, shared the video on her Instagram account and strongly condemned Mockridge's statements.

“It is unbelievable that there are still people who say such inhumane crap and simply put down disabled people,” the 33-year-old wrote in her story.
