SEATTLE – Another Big Ten/Mid-American Conference clash is scheduled for Saturday afternoon in the West, as the Eastern Michigan Eagles prepare to face the Washington Huskies.

The Eagles entered the 2024 season expecting to improve after a disappointing season last year. After finishing 6-7, Chris Creighton's team was looking to improve and be more than just a football team with a nearly .500-point record despite appearing in a bowl game for the sixth time in the last eight seasons. Things started off well for the other green and white team from the middle, as EMU went on the road last week and defeated the UMass Minutemen 28-14. There's no doubt this week's matchup will be much tougher than their season opener, but a win in their first game of the season could give the Eagles the confidence boost they need to be competitive in Week 2.

It's hard to understand the Huskies. After an incredible 2023 season in which Heisman Trophy candidate Michael Penix Jr. led the team to the national championship game. But with Penix moving on to the NFL and a host of players lost, Washington entered this year with muted expectations, especially about joining the physically tough Big Ten. They also started 2024 with a win, defeating FCS opponent Weber State 35-3 last Saturday.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Washington and Eastern Michigan on the football field.
